Guess who’s going to be the instructor at the Purlaway retreat in October? Nichole and Sarah contacted me last fall, and of course I said, “Yes, you can invite me to be totally spoiled at your luxury retreat! I’m in, baby!”
I still can’t believe that people give money for my opinion. Ah ha hah!
It’s been too dark to get a good shot of Berries. I even towed Dotty Jr. in my car for a few days, hoping to catch the right conditions, but no luck. We’re so far north, and the clouds have been thick; without real lights and a real camera my pics just turn out blurry and bad. I’d appreciate it if you’d all do me a favor and bring out the black chickens: pray for a dry, high, light overcast this weekend.
Years ago, my sister Traci and I shared an apartment in southeast Portland. (on Ankeny, near Laurelhurst, if you know the area) Her friend Jana loaned us a full figure mannequin, named Dotty, whom we dressed up in the most outlandish outfits like a giant Barbie doll. Dressing Dotty Day was a celebration.
So let me introduce you to Dotty Junior. She’s a cheap dressform, but good enough to wear a sweater for a few minutes while I get some shots. I’m planning to get some lights and find a corner up here in my office/studio where I can get pattern photos. She’s a little thinner than I am. This is the Berries Cardigan you’ve been seeing, and she doesn’t fill it out nearly as well as I do. :)
And not only that? A mom from school saw my post for a dress form on freecycle, figured out what I was doing, and offered me her full steamer! Yes!
